I have been the Lead Pastor at Sharon since August 2008. I have pastored Southern Baptist churches for
the past twenty-five years but this is the first time I have lived in Kansas,
having moved here from Midland, Texas. I may not be a native Kansan, but
I am married to one. My wife Alana was born in Hutchinson and she is
thrilled to be back in what she calls “The Promised Land.” Alana and I
have been married for thirty wonderful years.
I have two married children; Rachel, who lives in Broomfield, Colorado
is a Speech Language Pathologist and Jake, who lives is in Pasadena, California
is a mechanical engineer working with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
I’m a very proud dad. I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in
1986 with a BA in Religion/Psychology. I went on to receive a Master’s of
Divinity degree in 1991 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft.
Worth, Texas and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2000 from Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Kansas City. I enjoy riding my motorcycle and my
bicycle, camping with the family, reading a good book or watching a movie in my
“man cave.” I love sports and being a transplanted Texan my favorite
teams are the Texas Longhorns (sorry, Sooner fans) and the Dallas
Cowboys. My idea of a perfect day would be to wake up late, eat some
good Mexican food with the family and then be in the stadium to watch my beloved
Cowboys win the Super Bowl. Oh well, a man can dream. I love my church
family and my community and my greatest desire is to equip, enable, and lead
this group of believers to serve God, each other, and our community in Christ’s
name.
